Heart and Mind Connection – How to Balance Your Brain and Heart to Reduce Stress
[ad_1]
There is fascinating new research that verifies the idea that we can “think” and feel with our heart. The research is coming from three different scientific fields.
o Molecular biologists have discovered that the heart is the body’s most important endocrine gland. In response to our experience, the heart produces a hormone, Atriol Neuriatic Factor that effects every operation in our limbic structure. Which we refer to as the “emotional brain” and is also where memories and learning take place.
o Nuerocardiologist have found that 60-65% of the cells of the heart are actually neural cells, not muscle cells. These cells are identical to the neural cells in the brain with the same connecting links and same kinds of neurotransmitters found in the brain.
o Biophysicists have discovered that the heart is also a very powerful electromagnetic generator. It creates an electromagnetic field that encompasses the body and extends from 8 – 12 feet away. This electromagnetic field profoundly effects the brain.
Why is this research important? Your heart and mind are connected So, when you are feeling stressed, anxious, angry or sad it effects the communication system in your entire body.
Let’s look at two paths to decreasing your stress. The first is through your thinking. As Brian Tracey states: “You are a living magnet; you attract into your life people, situations and circumstances that are in harmony with your dominant thoughts. Whatever you dwell on in your conscious grows into your experience.” The power comes in focusing your thoughts on what you DO want; not what you fear or don’t want. When you focus your mind on more positive outcomes, your biochemistry changes and you become more calm.
Another way to decrease your stress is focus on your heart. Childre and Martin developed a technology to bring our heart and mind back into balance called “Heart Math.” Childre and Martin reviewed & conducted research around the heart/mind/body connection. They developed a protocol to decrease stress, problem solve and come back into balance. You can learn the “Freeze Frame” technique through the simple process below.

Why the freeze frame?
Under stress and emotional agitation, the heart, pulse and respiration become erratic and agitated. When individuals practice the freeze frame all three physiological systems came into entrainment (smooth, synchronized rhythm). When our systems are synchronized in this way, they function with increased efficiency, saving valuable energy and promoting health.
FREEZE FRAME WORKSHEET
Here are the 5 steps of the Freeze Frame technique:
1. Recognize the stressful feeling and FREEZE FRAME it. Take a time out!
2. Make a sincere effort to shift your focus away from the racing mind or disturbed emotions to the area around your heart. You can imagine/pretend you are actually breathing through your heart. This will help focus your energy in the hear area. Keep your focus there for 10 seconds or more as you breathe through your heart.
3. Recall a positive, fun feeling or time you’ve had in life and feel and experience that time.
4. Now, using your intuition – ask your heart, what would be a more efficient response to the situation, one that will minimize future stress?
5. Listen to what you heart says in answer to your question. It’s an effective way to put your reactive mind and emotions in check – an “in-house” source of intuition.
