There are many benefits to practicing the ancient art of meditation. It’s simple, doesn’t have to take a lot of time, and undoubtedly will bring peace and tranquility to your life. When meditation is regularly practiced, most people rave about their overall physical and mental health improvements.
It took centuries for western civilization to begin accepting meditation for what it is today. There was a negative stigma revolving around this beneficial art for generations. But as with most misconceptions, eventually knowledge of the benefits of this highly respected practice are bringing people around to not only trying it, but making it a regular practice.
We all know the stereotypical scene of meditation – the mat on the floor, zen candles burning, and the weirdo in the robe on the mat bellowing creepy sounds of “um.” In the 1960’s, sex, drugs, rock n’ roll and meditation were a part of the “hip” society of young and free spirited people.
Today’s expanding holistic community is broadening the spectrum of ancient eastern healing practices. The open minded thinkers and participators are now celebrating the benefits as more people are choosing a spiritual lifestyle. The “thinkers and doers” aided in the increased knowledge of the benefits of this ancient technique for achieving bliss and overall better health.
The fact is because our minds are muddled with daily activities like projects, problems, etc., most of us retain these thoughts and are stressed out. This mental overload needs an outlet. Our peace of mind is stifled, we’re robbed of our physical and mental energies, and we’re left exhausted and spent.
The good news is that by using meditation for the remedy, these stresses can be removed along with the negative energies and tension. Your mind and body will be refreshed and invigorated.

By practicing a simple meditation exercise, you’ll actually start to unwind yourself and spend your time in a more relaxed state.
Don’t expect an overnight success when you first begin. In time and with practice and patience you’ll begin to see the positive results. Everyone agrees that finding a quiet space in this chaotic world is a blessing. Meditation can take you to your own peaceful place to get that blessing. Give it a try, remain open, and you’ll eventually reap the rewards. Then you can blossom like the lotus!
