After the last trip to Chikmaglur, my gang had been anxiously waiting for the next trip. It sure did capture everyone’s attention and peaked their interests!
With our priorities set towards work and daily hustles, we needed a break in our routine and needed to get out of the concrete jungle. So we did what we had been stalling for a long time. Road Trip!!!
Since it had been raining intermittently and heavily through the weeks, we had to look for a hide out close enough. And hence, we decided to go with our dear friend Manoj’s suggestion – Jappadakallu Resort, Sakleshpura
On a busy Friday afternoon we finished our work, blasted off from work in our cars like our lives depended on it. A gang of extraordinary gentlemen had prepped well for the trip. Two cars, eight men.
The culprits in my car (All Navodayans)
And we drove through a beautiful landscape, city, village, nature, farms, highways that looked like runways. Confucius said, “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” And so we did, heart filled with excitement to travel to an unexplored place, hopes of creating more memories – on the way and at the destination.
While on the road you’re bound to be tempted to have roasted corn cobs, tender coconuts, cucumbers, jackfruits. The drive in monsoon weather & eating roasted corn on a rural highway is an epic combination!
On the way to the resort, we took a minor deviation and stayed over at our friend’s for the night. Obviously, not without heading out to a quick bite and recreation 😉 With the heavy rains gracing the roads at night, we took our plans to the nearest Dhaba and had a wonderful time.
After a much required sleepover at Som’s house we started off to our destination, Jappadakallu Resort, Sakleshpura. En route to the resort we stopped for breakfast, one of the fluffiest idli’s you’ll find in the city of Hassan. Fresh hot idli’s with amazing chutney & onions, early in the morning during monsoon season is God’s blessing in disguise!
The monsoon drive was as fun as it can get, the conversation between friends is always a great memory in these kinda road trips. Some have been captured on a Go Pro, with some strong language as well 😛 which you can find on my YouTube channel. And we finally managed to reach our destination. The Resort!

The resort boasts of a majestic view of nature’s beauty around it. Home Stay amidst the lush greenery of Western Ghats in Hassan District of Karnataka. Its a perfect heaven for a weekend getaway from the hustle bustle of city life. The chirping of exotic birds, fragrance of wild flowers, locally grown aromatic coffee, walk in the middle of nature watching clouds at nearby mountain peaks, silence of the surroundings, a breather that we needed from our routine lives.
Jappadakallu Resort – View from The Tower. There are different kinds of accommodations in the resort. We opted for the tower which was a corner building with 2 rooms. Clean rooms with attached clean bathrooms. The view of the valley from the private terrace was breath taking. Watching nature you end up asking the obvious question, “what am I doing far away from such beauty?”
The Tower – this is where we stayed. The terrace was the highlight of the entire stay. It had chairs and a table to have comfortable view around the estate and the forest adjacent to the estate.
Swimming Pool – The swimmers & drowner (me!)
Our very own biker
The gang and the bonfire party
The hospitality offered by the staff was very convenient
In the end, our journey was the reward and it sure was therapeutic. But there is a lot to explore in those areas for which you need more than a weekend to explore. Monsoon drive complete 🙂
