Life has its pressures. The busy pace has left you feeling tired, heavy, and exhausted. Throughout our everyday lives we are constantly put in stressful situations that slowly wear on our mental and physical health. There are many ways to deal with these stresses and find balance. One of my most favored ways is through meditation.
Why meditation is necessary is because everyday our energy centers are constantly taking in negative energy from our surroundings. This wears on us mentally creating tiredness and can affect our spirits. These energy centers need to be cleansed letting out the negative energies and bringing in positive ones to sustain us for the times ahead. These energy centers are called Chakras. There are seven different Chakras each with their own attributes which affects our wellbeing both consciously and subconsciously.
The Seven Chakras
Root Chakra
The root Chakra is located at the very base of our spine. It is associated with the color red. This Chakra is our foundation. It is important to maintain this Chakra to have grounding in our lives. It can allow us mastery over our body giving us health, security, and prosperity.
Naval Chakra
The naval Chakra is located in our lower abdomen and lower back. It is associated with the color orange. Feelings of love, passion, and emotion are directly related to this Chakra. Focus on this Chakra brings us sexual fulfillment, harmony, selflessness, and generosity.
Solar Plexus Chakra
This is the power Chakra. It is located in the solar plexus above the naval and below the chest. It is associated with the color yellow. This is where the focus of our energies is controlled. By having power over this Chakra it can bring you will power, self-control, and discipline. Physically mastery over this Chakra helps your energy levels as well as your metabolism.
Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is located in the center of our chest. It is associated with the color green. Here is where our love and understanding comes from. Feelings of compassion, forgiveness, and balance come from this point. By having a healthy heart Chakra it enables us to have unconditional love, be compassionate, and have a grounded sense of peace.
Throat Chakra
In our throat is found the throat Chakra. It is associated with the color sky blue. This Chakra is related to our communication as well as our creativity. It can bring us truth, knowledge, and wisdom through the power of speech.
Brow Chakra
Known as the “Third Eye” the brow Chakra is located in our forehead right above our eyes. It is associated with the color indigo. By mastering this Chakra we gain understanding of the “big picture”. It helps our vision both physically and intuitively. As a result we can gain wisdom and understanding of our soul and find peace with this.
Crown Chakra
This Chakra is at the very top of our head. It is associated with the color violet. This Chakra is related to our consciousness of mind and spirit. Knowing our higher self is reliant on this Chakra. It helps us see our place in this vast universe and understanding space and time. It can bring us higher wisdom, deeper understanding, a spiritual connection, and oneness with the universe.
How To Meditate
At this point make sure you completely understand each Chakra and its location. This is important to get the full benefits from your meditation. Remember as well that it takes time to master these principles. Like with exercise continual practice produces results. To be come a master can take a very long time but I am sure you can immediately feel the benefits and they will only get better with more practice and concentration.
To begin make sure you are very comfortable free of noise and distractions. Sit cross-legged on the floor or with a pillow underneath you. If this is still not comfortable enough you can lay down. Start with deep breathing concentrating and controlling your breath. Then begin to focus your breath on the root Chakra. Breathe deep within the area of the first Chakra and imagine the color of this Chakra as energy flowing through and engulfing this part of your body. Concentrate and imagine all the attributes that it embodies. Take your time. When you feel you are full of energy move on to the next one. Repeat the process through all the Chakras. Keep yourself free of distractions and your body completely relaxed. After you have gone through all of the energy centers feel the connection and alignment of all the Chakras within your entire body. Move slowly back down from your crown to your base Chakra keeping the breath strong and deep. When you finish slowly acknowledge your physical body and begin to move slowly and come back to your physical embodiment. You should feel relaxed and refreshed. It is a good idea to spend a little time doing this daily. You will feel more energized and grounded.
