In the earlier times, the name of Horsley hills was Yenugu Mallamma Konda named after the girl Mallamma who grew up under the care of the elephants. She cured many tribal people on hills but one day she suddenly disappeared and the locals of the region considered her as goddess from that time. Later the region was named after British officer named WD Horsley who was collector of Cuddappah district. He visited the hills during the years 1840-43. He chose the place as summer residence. In the present times, the governor uses the house of WD Horsley as summer residence.

One can reach Horsley hills via a very scenic narrow road. From the road, one can see the trees like eucalyptus, jacaranda, allamanda and Gulmohar. In this part of the world, one can see the tourist places like Lake Gangotri, Highview seeing place, Gaalibanda, Environmental Park. To know many things about the past of this place, one can also see the Horsley hills museum. Zorbing in Horsley hills is a special experience. In fact, this is only among the few hill stations of India that offers such an experience. Two other adventures the tourist can enjoy in this region are trekking and rapelling. The tourist can also see the environmental park in this part of the world. Move a distance of 15 km from Horsley hills to reach a famous temple of lord Shiva.

One enjoys the fragrance of the beautiful flower called Sampangi. This flower grows on the hills of this place. In the forest area of this region, one can see the flora like Reeta, Shikakai, Amla, Beedi leaves and Bay leaves, Sandalwood, Red sanders, Blue gum, Mahogany and Bamboo.
