The New Balance 1226 was introduced this July intended for runners doing high mileage and in need of superb cushioning. The New Balance is the newer and much improved version of the New Balance 1225 where it was too inflexible and snug to give you a proper running experience. In this article I will explain what features makes the New Balance 1226.
According to New Balance this running shoe is built for the runner who covers a lot of miles during their runs and who needs the best features to support this. The dual density collar starts by using softer density foam for the inside of the foot for cushioning. With this it also has firmer density foam for support during impact.
The stability mid foot also provides the runner with another means of comfort by separating the shock and impact that you feel when hitting the ground. This stability web also reduces the weight of the running shoe by using lightweight materials.
A full length strobe board that goes the whole length of the New Balance 1226 ensures that your run doesn’t go overboard by preventing over pronation and helping you keep balance. This is extremely useful on these long winded runs where fatigue can kick in and the runner has a harder time keeping balance compared to the beginning of the race.
One thing that some people who have tested this running shoe state that could be a problem is the fact that the laces become undone easily if not tied properly. This isn’t a major issue and can be combated if the laces are done in a triple knot instead of a double.
