Job Description
As a Data Protection Engineer, you will work with both IT and Business partners to provide guidance on how to securely handle sensitive data. You will be responsible for maintaining and administering data loss prevention (DLP) tools, testing and implementing security policies for mobile (MDM) solution, as well as exploring new solutions. The Data Protection team seeks a self-motivated, flexible individual who is always looking for a way to improve and protect our environment.
Your Responsibilities in this Role:
- Administer data protection tools including patching, upgrading, troubleshooting, testing and report generation.
- Review data loss prevention alerts within target timeframe.
- Maintain data protection software upgrade schedule to continuously test and upgrade our technical solutions.
- Resolve data loss alerts by implementing remediation strategies and protective controls.
- Test and tune data identification policies to reduce false positives. Follow standard change procedures to minimize risk of negative impact.
- Create roadmaps to explore, test, and implement new features within our tool sets.
- Develop new policies using regex, machine learning, fingerprinting, and/or dictionaries to monitor unique data types.
- Team with other areas of the business to document known business processes handling sensitive data and provide best practice recommendations.
- Ensure existing business processes meet data security best practices.
- Develop, test, and implement security policies on mobile devices.
- Research and respond to changes in mobile platforms, threats, and attacks in the wild on mobile devices.
- Collaborates with the business to conduct discovery scans to identify sensitive information. Reviews results with data owner and provides guidance on how to securely store that data.
- Review existing deployment architecture, engineering, and policies and assess overall deployment against best practices.
- Evaluate and build new data protection solutions in alignment with cloud requirements. Operationalize these solutions to deliver value to the business.
- Implement protective controls in the cloud to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
- Effectively communicate data protection concepts to non-technical business leaders.
What are We Looking for?
- Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- At least 3+ years of experience working with DLP or data protection technologies including an understanding of how data in motion, data at rest, and data in use is monitored. Strong technical knowledge of secure architectures, system policies, rules, etc.
- Experience with designing and automating data protection strategies for cloud environments including AWS.
- Experience with Airwatch(VMware) Hub or other MDM solutions.
- Experience applying mobile policies per best practice to protect corporate data/
- Familiar with securing structured and unstructured data.
- Experience working with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions.
- Experience managing Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) solutions.
- Experience with deploying and managing data classification solutions.
- Understanding of regulatory structures such as PCI and GDPR.
- Creative and adaptive work ethic, with a strong customer-oriented attitude.
